"Avocado Plant" By clicking on this thumbnail, you open a full size picture, in a different browser window, of the "Avocado Plant". This could be a big help for constructing this project. Materials Needed: *Always use distilled, or filtered water*
Preparing the Plant: 1.) Eat an avocado! 2.) Clean the remainder of fruit from the pit with your dish scrubber. 3.) Rinse off and dry with a paper towel. Directions for Construction: 1.) Soak 1/5 pack of Aquadiamonds in 1 quart of *water*, in a large mixing Bowl, for 9 - 12 hrs. 2.) Drain soaked crystals in colander for 1/2 hr. or more. 3.) Fill Vase to the top with soaked and drained crystals. 4.) Insert 1/2 of the avocado pit , pointy end up, into vase, leaving 1/2 exposed above the soaked crystals. You're done! NOTE: After planting, it takes 4 - 5 weeks for the pit to shoot roots. Before that happens, you'll notice the pit splitting in half. Pay that no mind. Once you see the roots growing down, it will only be a couple more days until the stalk begins to shoot up from the top of the pit. Once it does, watch out. This thing grows fast!
